Mr. James Crinnion is a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal London and Whipps Cross University hospitals with 24 years' consultant experience specialising in general, vascular and endocrine surgery. He has particular expertise in the minimal access treatment of varicose veins, laparoscopic and open hernia surgery, treatment of gall stones, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and all arterial surgery.
Mr. James Crinnion qualified from Leeds University Medical School in 1987 and trained in Leeds, Sheffield, and London. In 1998 he was awarded an MD thesis for vascular surgical research.
Mr. Crinnion continues his interest outside of his clinical work by dedicating time to surgical education and he has published extensively with many original articles and book chapters. He has been Chairman of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons, an invited member of Council of the Royal College of Surgeons and Chairman of the North Thames Training Committee for General surgery. He has also been the Trust clinical governance lead (2003-9) and Clinical Director for General Surgery for Bartshealth (2012-2016).

Mr Crinnion was instantly reassuring and informative. He really took the time to find out about me as well as being very thorough explaining the process of my operation (Laparoscopic Cholestectomy). The procedure went so well and the scars are very neat. He is a great surgeon.

My examination was very thorough and a full explanation of the procedure gave me the confidence to continue.I particularly appreciated a full breakdown of the stages of recovery and could therefore map my own progress as my leg recovered.

This is the second time that Mr. Crinnion has removed an abnormal parathyroid gland. Both times, I have found that he explained the situation very clearly, kept me updated on outcomes of scans, etc. He has been patient, kind and approachable (with a sense of humour) and his surgical skills are clearly excellent as both times, my wounds are barely visible and heal very quickly and without complications.

Excellent with his communication of my medical condition and the plan before, during and after treatment. Really happy with how the surgery went and the speedy recovery to date.
