First of all, it’s located in tropical East Bolivia, only 400 m above sea level. The mountain scenery and high altitude changed to humid weather, modern vibes and less poverty. I’d say not authentic Bolivia. However, we liked this other type of Bolivia with its exceptional flora and fauna. Best places to visit in La Paz, Bolivia https://alizswonderland.com/best-places-to-visit-in-la-paz-bolivia/ https://alizswonderland.com/best-places-to-visit-in-la-paz-bolivia/#respond Mon, 15 Jun 2020 20:15:56 +0000 https://alizswonderland.com/?p=4221 La Paz is the highest located capital in South America and it has a unique location between the mountains of Andes. This particular area was a totally new world for me. I really enjoyed the diversity in architecture as well as in people’s behaviour and look. Though I have to admit, on our first day I wasn’t so impressed with the centre of La Paz. However, its variety mesmerized me by colourful historical buildings, raw brick facades without any plaster, modern buildings with glass facades and the innovative cable car network. Not only La Paz, but its surroundings also offer fascinating experiences. Continue reading to find out which are the best places to visit in La Paz, Bolivia. How to get to La Paz? By bus to La Paz Bolivia has many bus companies, though I haven’t read many promising things about them. Most of the companies don’t have heating, toilets on board and aren’t that safe. However, Todo Turismo is an exception. Their bus is modern, offers cama (45 USD + tax) and semi-cama (37 USD + tax) seats. They provide wifi, charging opportunities, toilet on board, friendly English-speaking staff, oxygen bottle, small meals and drinks, heating, blanket and […]

It’s situated in Lake Titicaca, so on the way there and also from the island you can enjoy the view of snow-capped mountains, green hills and the blue vastness of Lake Titicaca. Furthermore, the island is home to cute llamas and other animals. You only have to enjoy this sacred atmosphere, get ready for high altitude and walk slowly. Check out how we spent our 1 day trip in Isla del Sol, Bolivia. How to get to Isla del Sol, Bolivia? Isla del Sol is located in Lake Titicaca, close to its Bolivian lakeshore. The easiest way is TAKING A BOAT FROM COPACABANA and in 1,5 – 2 hours you can reach the island. Boat tickets can be purchased at many places in Copacabana, though at tourist agencies it might be more expensive. We bought our return tickets in a kiosk at the lakeshore (at the end of Av 6 de Agosto) one day in advance. The seller said that the boat will arrive at Porta Sur, the harbour of Yumani village located on the southern part of the island. However, our boat stopped at the Temple of Sun, which is […]

Best time to visit Uyuni Salt Flats The salt flats have 2 different faces, the experience is different in rainy and dry seasons. It’s up to you, what you prefer to see 😉 During the RAINY SEASON (December-April), you can witness the “mirror effect”, when a thin layer of water on the salt acts as a mirror. So you can look at the blue sky and its reflection on the water at the same time. However, some parts of the salt flats aren’t accessible because of the water, like the famous Incahuasi island (Isla Incahuasi). This island is located in the middle of the salt flat and covered in cactuses. The rainy season, the South-American summer assures warm weather […]
