Specialty coffee shop guide to São Paulo, Brazil

Specialty coffee shop guide to São Paulo, Brazil | Aliz’s Wonderland

When you think about Brazilian coffee, you dream about drinking quality specialty coffee everywhere in Brazil. I was expecting the same thing… But in reality, Brazil isn’t full of specialty coffee shops. I was surprised to realize that São Paulo doesn’t have that specialty coffee (and brunch) culture like Budapest. So in São Paulo, specialty coffee shops won’t just pop up on the next corner. So I created this specialty coffee shop guide for you to know where to look for cafés in São Paulo.

Best specialty coffee shops in São Paulo, Brazil

Most of São Paulo’s specialty coffee shops are located in Vila Madalena and Pinheiros neighbourhoods. Every place has espresso, cappuccino, though only a few places serve flat white, which is my favourite. At least, I could try out new types and V60 coffees became one of my new favourites.

On the following map (My Maps by Google Maps) you can see the best specialty coffee shops to visit in São Paulo.

By clicking on the tab next to “São Paulo’s best specialty coffee shops”, you can see the actual points, and it’s also possible to turn off and on layers. Furthermore, you can also save this map (if you have My Maps account) by pressing the star next to the map title.

The address, prices and opening times are also included at some specialty coffee shops. Still, it can change anytime, especially the opening time, so check it on their sites to not miss your Brazilian specialty coffee.

OCabral Café

OCabral Café is located in the centre, close to the shopping street of Oscar Freire. Its outdoor area is surrounded by tropical plants, a mural on a wall and even a design showroom is part of the café.

Just walk to the window, order your coffee and choose from the tables. They serve cappuccino, flat white and even cold brew. The menu also contains tasty brownie, pão de queijo and other snacks.

Prices:

  • Cappuccino – 9 BRL
  • Flat white – 10 BRL
  • Brownie – 10 BRL
  • Pão de queijo – 8 BRL

Futuro Refeitório

The plot of Futuro Refeitório used to be a parking warehouse in Pinheiros. The new owners turned it into a specialty coffee shop and restaurant. They kept the industrial structure of the building with the yellow and black lines on the wall, which represents the car parks in Brazil.

In the morning, Futuro Refeitório is waiting for you with home-made bread, brunch and coffee. They always search for the best coffee beans and roast them there. Their flat white was AMAZING! We also tried the avocado toast made of Brazilian avocado, it was so creamy and delicious.

KOF – King of The Fork

KOF – King of The Fork is also located in Pinheiros. The small coffee shop has a friendly atmosphere outside as well as inside and in the yard. Just go to the bar to order your coffee. This is one of the few places with a flat white on the menu. You can also choose from healthy snacks, sweets and sandwiches. Furthermore, accessories for bikers and coffee lovers are also available.

  • Flat white – 10 BRL
  • Cappuccino – 8 BRL

Coffee Lab

This place was one of my favourites in Vila Madalena. Every room looks very cool, the corridor with tables and plants, the bright indoor areas and the glass corner facing the street.

Order the coffee from the baristas at the kitchen. They wear stylish overalls and some of them even speak English.

The menu didn’t contain flat white but had many types of V60. So with the help of a friendly barista, I chose an exotic type, called Elzio Sartori by Sitio Raio de Luz. Highly recommended!

Prices:

  • V60 Elzio Sartori – BRL 16
  • Cappuccino – BRL 10

Holy Café

Holy Café is a vegan coffee and brunch place in Vila Madalena. Surprisingly, it wasn’t busy on Saturday morning. It has tables outside and inside as well. Its indoor spaces are super stylish and decorated with natural materials and a tree with pink blossoms.

They didn’t have flat white, so I tried out the Bulletproof coffee, which was a mix of drip coffee, cacao butter and coconut oil. Well, the flat white is still my favourite, though this was also tasty. We also had breakfast and I went for the avocado toast, of course.

Holy Café is specialized in vegan cakes and sweets, all of them looked super tasty and beautiful.

Prices:

  • Bulletproof coffee – BRL 12
  • Brazilian style cappuccino – BRL 12
  • Avocado toast – BRL 20
  • Bestseller breakfast – BRL 25

Um Coffee Co. – Itaim Bibi

Um Coffee Co. has more locations in the city. However, we visited only one of them in the Itaim Bibi neighbourhood, which had a stylish interior with white and wooden surfaces. The coffees were tasty and were served on a cute wooden coaster.

Prices:

  • Cappuccino – 6,90 BRL

I loved it. I didn’t go in any of them, but I know one that you should go. It is called Padaria belas artes, located in morumbi. They have self-service of breakfast and a lot of delicious options. You must give a try.

Ah yeah, I’ve heard about that place. They don’t serve specialty coffee, but I like the padaria style breakfasts 🙂
