Where is Selina Floripa & Cowork located in Florianópolis?
The island of Florianópolis (short name: Floripa) is approximately 54 km long, and Selina is located close to its middle part, next to Praia Mole, on the east side of the island. You can reach the beach in 5 minutes on foot from your room. So the beach is super close…
But… No supermarkets and pharmacies are within walking distance…
For a small supermarket at Lagoa da Conceição, you’ll need a long walk going up and down along the main road. If you’re planning on preparing your own dishes, go to a supermarket around the Lagoa area (we went to Magia) and buy more food.
How to get to Selina?
Selina is 18 km from the airport (30 minutes by car). From there, you can take an Uber, which is an affordable option in Brazil.
The central bus station in the city centre is also 18 km away.
Selina can be reached by public transportation too. There’s a bus station at the hostel entrance, so you can also get around by bus (bus ticket: 4,50 BRL/person).

The facilities of Selina
Selina is more than an accommodation. Its area is large, there are free parking places, more buildings with rooms and community areas, a surf equipment store with surfboard and neoprene outfit made from recycled materials, and even a barbershop next to the coworking area. Moreover, everything is super stylish!
The reception area is expanded with a cosy lounge and a small supermarket with essentials. You can even purchase clothes, surf equipment, sunscreen, and aloe vera creams.
Your key will be a wristband with a small magnet card; it’s like being at a festival 😉 It was so pleasant that we didn’t have to care about keys. It opened our door and also the coworking office.

Private and shared rooms
You can pick from many room types:
- Private
- Private plus
- Private shared
- Shared rooms
We booked a private standard room on the website (the website provides free cancellation), and we got a private triple room. The only difference was that we had an extra bunk bed. The double bed was comfy and big, so we didn’t need to use the bunk beds 😉
The room also has a small table with chairs, just enough for the two of us to work on it. Next to the entrance, there’s a place to store some luggage. Though I missed a wardrobe to store clothes properly because we stayed there 10 days.
The private bathroom is equipped with a sink, toilet, bidet and shower. Towels, shower gels and soaps were provided. Only a hairdryer was missing (my hair gets crazy without it…).
We also had a small balcony overlooking the parking and restaurant areas. Unfortunately, the reception’s AC outdoor unit was located under our balcony, and it was disturbingly loud. Our room was equipped with a fan under the window, which was also loud but better than warm air.

Indoor and outdoor swimming pools
The indoor pool is located in the same block on the 1st floor, and we tried it out a few times. The water is slightly warm, and it has a decent length. A bar is next to the pool, though it wasn’t operating.
The outdoor pool area is another perfect place to chill and refresh yourself. The pool is surrounded by a lush green space with palm trees and plants. You can choose from lounge beds and sunbeds.

Community kitchen and dining area
The community kitchen is located above the restaurant, overlooking the pool. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious. Filtered water is also available next to the tap, so we didn’t need to buy extra water.
We could store our food on the shelves and in 2 fridges with freezers. Stickers were also there to label our food. Luckily, there was also a shelf with “leftovers” by other travellers, so we didn’t have to buy olive oil and salt, and our omelette wasn’t tasteless 🙂
There are many tables to eat at and also for working. We worked from there a few days, the internet was working well, though it wasn’t that strong as in the co-working place.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner at Selina Floripa
If you decide to not prepare your own dishes, just head to the restaurant of Selina.
There’s a restaurant and bar next to the outdoor pool. You can have a seat outside under the palms or in the stylish interior. The design is so joyful with the tropical murals and the natural materials.
The waiters are super friendly, just like everyone at Selina.
All-you-can-eat breakfast is available for an affordable price (27,50 BRL/person). The selection is not so wide. You can choose from a few fruits, scrambled eggs, different types of bread and rolls, cheese and ham, oats, granola, chocolate cake, juices and Brazilian coffee.
We could fill our stomachs, but we weren’t that satisfied because the tastes were ordinary. So after the 2nd day, we bought ingredients from a supermarket and made our breakfast in the community kitchen.
We tried a few lunch and dinner options as well. The risotto and pasta are huge portions, though the taste isn’t exceptional. However, their pastels are so tasty that we ordered another round. Their salad and the grilled salmon are also delicious.
You’ll get a welcome drink coupon while checking in, so don’t forget to claim it at the bar. I chose a caipirinha, of course 😛

Where to eat around Selina?
There aren’t many restaurant options around Selina. A few kiosks at the beach serve food, but they aren’t open in the evening.
The closest restaurants are at the lakeside, if you’re heading there, don’t miss the shrimp selection called “sequência de camarão”.
Or just order food from the website of iFood.
Community, events and #SelinaLife
Live music
During the weekend and some weekdays, singers, musicians, or DJs perform at the bar and restaurant. The live music with the happy audience, lights and palm trees create a magical vibe. You don’t want to miss these events. You can meet others staying in Selina.
If it’s raining the concert is inside on the small stage.
Tours and surf classes
Selina organises tours like hikes, surf lessons and many other water activities. We haven’t tried any, maybe next time.
Find out more about the tours on the website and at the reception.
Wellness and yoga
Selina hosts yoga 3-4 times per week (for an additional fee). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the yoga is held indoors. On Saturday, it was next to the pool in the grass.
We just returned from the beach and saw many people in yoga pants gathering around the pool. But, as we’ve seen, it wasn’t just a typical yoga class. First, everyone got a detox drink, then the trainer talked about the meaning of yoga (everything was in Portuguese), then the yoga class and relaxation and another drink.
Selina CoWork
The coworking place has a big area with huge tables, comfy chairs and sofas. You can also book the smaller meeting rooms. Faster wifi and AC provide the required atmosphere for productive work.
It’s located in a separate building, next to the main road. It’s also open for people not staying at Selina, though the price will be higher for them.
Prices (water and long coffee are included):
- Co-working for 1 day for guests: 25 BRL/person
- Co-working for 1 day for non-guests: 50 BRL/person
- Other plans are also available, check the website for the prices
- Nespresso coffee capsule: 6 BRL
If you don’t want to pay extra for faster wifi and a coworking area, you can also work from the dining area, your room and even from the restaurant.

Selina CoLive and CoLive Flex
Selina provides a monthly subscription. Depending on your chosen room style, for a fixed fee, you can move between Selinas. During a month, stay in 1 to 3 Selinas with CoLive and 1 to 10 locations with CoLive Flex. The price includes accommodation, coworking access, wellness classes, online community and on-site discounts.
For more details, check the website. You can also have a call with them, and they’ll tell you everything you need to know.
Before booking your flight ticket to the next city and country, reach out to Selina about room availability. Popular places like Rio de Janeiro and Tulum can be fully booked.
Things to do around Praia Mole and Selina
Don’t worry if you don’t have a car because you won’t be bored around Selina. If you want to discover further places, you can order an Uber anytime or take the bus.
Nearby beaches and hikes
- Praia Mole is the closest one with perfect sand and gorgeous waves.
- Praia da Galheta can be reached only on foot (via Trilha da Galheta), and it’s a nudist beach, so you can leave the swimming suit in the hotel 😉
- Praia do Gravatá is a smaller beach, and an easy hike on “Trilha do Gravatá” will take you there.
Natural sights and viewpoint
- Lagoa da Conceição is the biggest lake of Floripa. On foot, it’s more than 20 minutes to reach it and it’s not so pleasant to walk along the main road. You can find many restaurants at the lakeside, don’t miss the shrimp selection called “sequência de camarão”. The boat ride on the lake is also fun, and it starts from Pier Cooperbarcos.
- Mirante Ahau offers a pleasing panorama to Lagoa da Conceição. It’s a 10-minute walk along the main road.
- Praia da Joaquina is further away. If you’re heading there, stop before the beach, walk through the dunes and enjoy the view of the beach. If you’re up to an adventure, try out sandboarding.

We really enjoyed staying at Selina Floripa & Cowork. Sometimes we woke up early and headed to Praia Mole, and after that, we chilled at the pool and then started our work.
It has an ideal location if you want to discover the island. The north and south parts can be reached easily, and the city centre is just a 30-minute drive.
