Happy spring again! Spring can mean a lot of things for you… Blooming flowers, sunshine, almost summer mood oooooor spring clean. Didn’t expect this??? Haha, sorry but it’s SPRING CLEAN time! I am sure you also need to organize and clean your home. Here is a fun DIY idea to arrange your magazines, documents, papers, bills and whatever you have. Organize your home and keep everything in the right place, it will save you precious time.

Everyone owns some stuffs what they don’t need. So you have to throw away few of them, it will make your life easier.

Systematize your important documents and papers. I show you how!

Do you have empty Kellogg’s box or other cereal boxes? I’m sure you have ruler and scissors, so you’ll only need a contact paper.

I had some leftover adhesive vinyl from the design studio where I work. I’m obsessed with recycling so I used that one to cover my empty boxes. You can buy contact paper or wallpaper. The pattern also depends on you. Do you prefer marble (it’s very trendy nowadays), floral, tropical or just a simple colour?

I had a bad habit. At home, I organized my papers in one or two (or more) columns. When I was searching for a document or just a printed recipe it took more time to find what I was looking for.

Now I have the magazine holders and everything has its own place, so I save time with searching and organizing.

Materials for your DIY magazine holder

• Cereal box
• Contact paper (or self-adhesive paper or wallpaper)
• Ruler
• Scissors (or craft knife)
• Pen (or pencil)

How to prepare the magazine holder?

1. Get an empty paper box, it can be the box of your favourite Kellogg’s or cereal. Usually, I don’t buy things like this, but if I do, I buy Nugat Bits from Aldi. Before cutting the box make sure that the documents or the A4 size papers or what you will organize, will fit into the cereal box.
2. Mark the cutting line with a pen and ruler on every side. You can use another magazine holder as a sample.
3. Cut along the lines with scissors or with a craft knife.
4. Place the box on the adhesive paper’s inner side. Make sure it will cover the entire box.
5. Roll out the contact paper and cut it smaller to manage the applying easier. You can cut down more when it’s stuck. Leave 1-2 centimetres for overlapping. Fold the adhesive paper at two lines at the bigger surface.
6. Start at the bigger surface. Peel off the back of the contact paper (only one part at a time) and start to stick it. Stretch it to avoid air bubbles. You can press out the bubbles with your fingers.
7. Peel off the rest of the contact paper from side to side.
8. When you reach the last side, cut down the overlapping at the edge.  Aaaaaand you are ready!

See, it wasn’t hard and only a few materials are needed. You can customize your workspace with the form and pattern you choose.

Now you can organize your papers or magazines and have a tidy home.
