These creamy vanilla milky bars are the perfect combination of milk, eggs and few other ingredients. The strawberries make the taste more magical. Super easy to make, just mix the ingredients and that’s it. Okay not this easy, so don’t skip the recipe on the bottom of the page 😉
It looks like 2 layers, but it’s not… I’ll tell you the secret, just keep reading!
First, my mom baked it and I had to ask her: why haven’t you placed the curd on top? She was laughing and said that this is only one batter, which will be separated during the baking. Aaaaa… so you have to make only one layer and your oven will do the rest 😉
I also have the recipe without fruits: Delicious milky vanilla bars.
Strawberry season is here! Yeeeeey!!!
One of my favourite fruit, I’m visiting the market more often nowadays to buy strawberries. It’s super tasty and has a lot of health benefits. Contain vitamin A, B and C, moreover potassium, calcium and iron. It is high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory, which help to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. It helps to purify your blood, strengthen your nerves, also recommended for weight-loss. 150 g strawberry covers your daily value of vitamin C.
Tips and tricks before starting
All of the dairy ingredients should be at room temperature, so make sure to take them out from the fridge 1-2 hours before starting. This way the diaries combine better, become smoother and will help to get the perfect texture and taste.
I use a Bosch kitchen machine for beating everything because I have to work less this way. The mixing is also working well manually 🙂 I know because I didn’t always have the kitchen machine.
If you’re also a kitchen machine fan, use the lowest speed, when adding the milk to the batter.
You can add other fruits as well. Be careful with the watery fruits, once I put raspberries and the consistency wasn’t that perfect.
Preparation time: 25 min
Baking time: 45 min
Ingredients (for a 34×24 cm baking dish):
- 8 eggs, separated
- 250 g (1,5 cups) powdered sugar + 1-2 tablespoons for dusting
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 250 g (~1 cup) butter
- 250 g (1,5 cups) plain flour
- 7,5 dl (3 cups) milk
- 500 g strawberries
How to make the milky vanilla bars with strawberry?
Preheat the oven to 160 ºC (320 ºF). Lightly butter a 34×24 cm (or similar size) baking dish.
Wash the strawberries, remove the green leaves and cut them in half. Place the pieces on the bottom of the baking dish. Set it aside.
Melt the butter in a pan and set aside.
Separate the 8 eggs.
Mix the 8 egg yolks with the sugar and vanilla extract, beat them until the mixture is fluffy.
Add the melted butter to the mixture. When it’s evenly incorporated, slowly add the flour and the milk in 3 parts and wait until it’s fully combined.
Beat up the egg whites in another bowl and mix to the batter carefully.
Carefully pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. The batter is quite liquidy, so when pouring it onto the strawberries be careful because the strawberries will be floating. I used a ladle to add it gently.
Bake it for 45 minutes, until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and leave it to cool down and keep it in the pan for a few hours.
Dust the top with powdered sugar.
