Delicious milky vanilla bars https://alizswonderland.com/delicious-milky-vanilla-bars/ https://alizswonderland.com/delicious-milky-vanilla-bars/#comments Mon, 11 Feb 2019 12:02:30 +0000 https://alizswonderland.com/?p=2238 These creamy milky vanilla bars are the perfect combination of milk, eggs and a few other ingredients. Super easy to make, just mix the ingredients and that’s it. Okay not this simple, so don’t skip the recipe on the bottom of the page 😉 Have you heard about the Hungarian dessert called floating island (madártej)? It also contains eggs and milk, on the yellow curd clouds made of egg whites are floating. This dessert is the solid version of the floating island, just tastier and easier to prepare it. It looks like it’s made of 2 layers, but no. First, my mom baked it and I had to asked her why hasn’t she placed the curd on top? She was laughing and said that this is only one batter, which will be separated during the baking. Aaaaa… so you have to make only one layer and your oven will do the rest 😉 Super! You can break the yellow curd by adding some fruits. It’s very tasty with strawberries, click here for the recipe. Though be careful with the watery fruits, once I put raspberries and the consistency wasn’t that perfect. Tips and tricks before starting All of the dairy […]

The creamy cottage cheese filling, of course! The phyllo sheets are only protecting the filling from falling into pieces, the essential is the creamy filling. So in this cottage cheese strudel, the best part will be the thickest layer. Read my easy Hungarian cottage cheese strudel (túrós rétes) recipe. This recipe is simplified. You don’t have to roll anything, we will just layer the ingredients on each other. That’s why it’s easy to make. My only concern was fat in my mom’s recipe, but we need only one tablespoon. I asked my mom, can I use coconut oil instead of fat? Her reaction was “If you want to make it with coconut oil, don’t make it”. Okay, sooooory mom. Maybe one day, I’ll try it with coconut oil. Psst, don’t tell my mom. Interested in Hungarian food?
